Should You Choose Microsoft Dynamics AX and NAV?

Microsoft Dynamics NAV and Microsoft Dynamics AX are two of the highly customizable ERP Solutions, which are available worldwide. Both of them are highly standardized at the enterprise level and can work in a centralized as well as decentralized way. They can evolve together with the growth of a company, as well as work covering different geographic areas of a company. In this post, we will see what sets these two apart from each other?

SMBs vs. Big Business

Broadly speaking, we can safely state that Microsoft Dynamics NAV has been designed for the small and the medium businesses which want to harness the powerful technology in order to compete with the large organizations. We do not have to believe that this solution will stay small in case the company is expanded, because it grows and adapts with it.

The Microsoft Dynamics AX, however, is for the large companies with an international presence. It is a software designed for the organizations that have organizational problems for the reason that they usually have multiple locations and they need to work in the different ways.

Price of Maintenance and Complexity

The Microsoft Dynamics AX requires a greater complexity than NAV for the reason that it can manage the companies with a lot of volume, with several locations, languages and currencies. Therefore, it also requires more equipment for its maintenance and implantation and, therefore, will need a greater investment.

The Microsoft Dynamics NAV, for its part, can work with a single project manager and its implementation team to achieve the satisfactory results, so it is more suitable for the growing companies that are not yet very complex.

Control

In another point where they are differentiated by their complexity is the production chain and their control. While Microsoft Dynamics AX gives us a complete solution to control the production chains, we can say that Microsoft Dynamics NAV offers us a domain with fewer options and the functionalities, but they will be enough for the smaller companies to which it is destined for. The same goes for marketing, sales, finance or HR, for example. Both the solutions do their job, but Microsoft Dynamics AX modules usually offer more configuration settings that a large company may need and it might not be needed by the SMBs.
